Moldovan Businesses Explore Italian Market Opportunities at "Export Vision Italia" Event
CHIȘINĂU, Moldova – October 24, 2024 – Moldovan businesses gathered in Chișinău today for "Export Vision Italia," a market research event designed to provide Moldovan companies with valuable insights into the Italian market and foster export growth. The event, organized by the Investment Agency of Moldova, highlighted the importance of diversification and offered practical advice on navigating the complexities of exporting to Italy.
"Export Vision" is a program dedicated to helping Moldovan exporters access international markets more easily," explained an organizer from the Investment Agency. "By understanding market specifics, requirements, certifications, and consumer preferences, businesses can better position themselves for success."
The event featured presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Speakers included representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and the World Bank. The discussions focused on topics such as market analysis, export diversification strategies, standards and certifications, and the role of public-private partnerships in supporting export growth.
A representative from the Ministry of Economy emphasized the importance of providing information to businesses seeking to enter foreign markets. "We have observed that the most crucial aspect is to furnish the necessary information for all those who aim to be present in foreign markets," she stated. A representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry highlighted the effort to align domestic market requirements with those of the EU. "Exporters to the European Union are the most integrated...they understand the dimension and complexity a product needs to face to reach the shelf," she noted.
A representative from the World Bank’s project, dedicated to supporting Moldovan exports, highlighted the dual approach of providing informational support and direct financial assistance to Moldovan businesses. "The project offers direct financial support for exporters through a grant program implemented with the Organization for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODA)," he explained. "These grants, up to 600,000 lei, can be used for export promotion, including consulting services and minor production equipment to meet market requirements."
The event also featured a presentation of a market study specifically on the Italian market, outlining opportunities for Moldovan products. "Italy is the Republic of Moldova's sixth-largest trading partner," noted a representative from the Ministry of Economy. "We have a positive export trend to this market." The study highlighted key sectors, such as fashion, tourism, and agri-food, where Moldovan businesses have already found success, and identified new opportunities for growth. The presentation also touched on consumer trends, such as an increasing demand for organic and sustainable products.
The "Export Vision Italia" event provided a valuable platform for Moldovan companies to connect with experts, government officials, and fellow exporters. The Investment Agency plans to host five market research studies this year, furthering its mission to support Moldovan businesses in expanding their reach into global markets. The next study, focusing on the Polish market, is scheduled for the end of November. The Investment Agency also facilitates business missions to help companies establish direct contacts and contracts with key importers in target markets, with upcoming missions planned for Germany and Romania. Through these programs and initiatives, the Investment Agency continues to be a key driver of Moldovan export growth and economic development.
